CCR

Radionuclides production

Radiopharmaceutical Research Centre (CCR) is a state-of-the-art facility installed at IFIN-HH (Horia Hulubei National Institute for Physics and Nuclear Engineering). It is based on a cyclotron for medical radioisotope production and radiochemistry/radiopharmacy equipment and laboratories:

  • Clean lab for pharmaceutical production and clinical testing: 8 hot cells, multiple automated synthesizers, robotic dispensing units, clean rooms (A-D), radioactive probes full quality control, and on-site microbiology lab.
  • Molecular imaging laboratory for full pre-clinical investigations: in vitro cellular uptake on tumor cell-lines, radiobiology and indirect effects investigations, pharmacokinetics and PET-CT imaging of small animals (rodents).

CCR hosts an open-access research infrastructure (IOSIN) Accelerator Ciclotron TR-19 (CCR-TR19) which include a Cyclotron, compact and completely automated, variable energy14-19 MeV protons, 3 beam lines and 8 beam extractors, accelerated at the last ray; working simultaneously in dual beam system. It is equipped with dedicated target chambers for production of short-life radioisotopes, including a dedicated fully automated line for radiometals. The access is granted to research organizations/groups, based on a request for experiments.
